A Fresh Start for 2025

We’re kicking off 2025 with a fresh new website. I had high hopes for last year’s site, a custom Rails project I could expand on, and never did anything with. This time around I’ve started from scratch again, with something based around AstroJS, a mostly statically generated site where I can add in interactive and backend driven parts as needed. I think Astro is the least worst JavaScript framework right now, in a world where everything surrounding web technology is most definitely eating itself.

Sorry, that was probably a bit of technical overload for an otherwise music focused blog. I’ll try to keep it reigned in, I’m letting my tech professional side slip through.

2024 was a big year for this project. I spent a lot of time experimenting with new tools, working on music, trying out new hardware, and making numerous YouTube videos about much of it. It was the first year, in a long time, since leaving art school, that I really gave myself the time to focus on this artistic side.

For 2025, I’m really excited to announce I’m working on some music plugins. Starting out with exploring some MIDI sequencer ideas I’ve had bouncing around, and hopefully some synthesizer related plugins later on (if I ever get my brain wrapped around the math). More on that when I get closer to having work to show.

I’m also planning doing more music live streams this year. Demoing new music, tools, techniques, and those new plugins! Stay tuned.

There’ll be more music too! I’ve already made an attempt at Jamuary; and I have a bit of a new year’s resolution to experiment with different genres and approaches to making music, including more hardware and sampling. I’m already trying to get to grips with the MPC workflow, again.

As for this blog, I’ll once again be attempting to keep it updated. At the very least I’ll post written versions of YouTube videos, and information about plugin projects.
